SF Career Summary:
Coren entered Starfleet Medical Academy because it's what was expected of him. His father, a Human named Kalen McKnight, was as long-serving doctor in Starfleet and his mother, an El-Aurian named Colana Teer, was a long-serving scientist. As well, his two brothers, Jalon and Shan, are all officers in Starfleet. So it was expected that Coren would follow suit after his parents.

The Academy experience was nothing special. Coren being in Medical and minoring in Sciences, was taking after his parents. He did well in all his non-core courses though struggled somewhat in the piloting courses. He didn't care, however, his field was in medicine so he couldn't understand the need to learn to fly if others could do it better. After graduation, Coren was assigned to the USS Foucault for his first tour of duty. It was a mostly uneventful 3 years, though he did get the opportunity to work with a diverse crew. This allowed him to better work his field of Inter-species medicine.

His "big break" came when an opening on the medical ship USS Hippocrates was available. He jumped at the chance to be ACMO and was subsequently transferred and promoted to Lieutenant(jg). On board the Hippocrates, things became much more exciting. It was an even MORE diverse ship than his previous one and the opportunities were limitless. Especially when he finally received the position of CMO followed by another promotion to Lieutenant. With Coren's style, though, he would often butt heads with his CO about differences of opinions. (Think Leonard McCoy!). After serving on the USS Hipporcrates for 5 years, Coren finally hands in his resignation, giving no explanation. Assigned to SB782 as an advisor.

Personal Information:
Coren was born on Izar to a Human father and El-Aurian mother. He is the middle of three boys, all of whom are in starfleet. As his parents, Kalen and Colana, moved around frequently do to their jobs in starleet, Coren received the opportunity to learn from them and garner a passion for Medicine, his father's profession and Sciences, his mother's. When he was young Coren could often be found near his father or mother, learning, or found treating other kids or animals that happened to be on the ships his parents had served on.

Once he'd turned 17, Coren went off to medical school. He spent the next seven years, from 2353-2360, obtaining a Doctorate's(PhD)in Medicine. Surgical, Exobiology and Intra-species Medicine became his focus. He was always fascinated by other species.

Once he'd gotten his degree, he felt compelled to study another passion of his. So at age 24, from 2360-2366, Coren obtains his Master's Degree in Physics and Astrophysics. With a minor in Archaeology.

But even before he had finished, that's when the trouble with his parents started. Coren had no intention in getting a career in Starfleet. He saw how often it had kept his parents apart from each other, and they from their kids. Coren didn't want that kind of life, feeling he'd be rather content to pick a place, settle down, raise a family and start up a practice. His parents would have none of that, and they discreetly reminded him that he had made a promise to them years ago that he would at least serve one tour in starfleet.

Grumbling, Coren finally relented and entered Starfleet Medical. That's when his thoughts changed slightly. At the Academy is where he met his now former wife, Lyndsey Drake. She was also enrolled in the Medical program and the two started seeing each other, against the better judgement of his friend Rana Imani who was attending command school at the time. Rana and Coren were good friends and it was Rana's opinion that Lyndsey was bad for Coren. Lyndsey was demanding, had little to no personality and didn't really seem to care for Coren...interested only in the prestige of being with another Doctor. Coren couldn't, or wouldn't see that and so, in the end, married Lyndsey.

After graduation from Starfleet Medical, Coren and his new wife were assigned to the USS Foucault for their first tour. Everything seemed hunky-dorie, but there was no joy in Coren's life. It seemed Rana had been right and for the next 7 years, Coren and Lyndsey were living a lie. They were never really in love with each other and, by the end of the relationship, were simply going through the motions. In his last year on the USS Hippocrates, Coren and Lyndsey weren't even living together as they were going through divorce proceedings. The divorce finalized, Coren decides to retire from starfleet, choosing to blame them for the problems in his marriage. The whole divorce reminds him of why he hadn't wanted to join starfleet in the first place, but he never gives them a reason for his departure. Coren decides to remain on as an advisor, doing odd jobs for starfleet because the opportunities are still good to study and practice medicine.

Medical Analysis:
"Coren is in top physical condition. He has had no illnesses, no problems to speak of for a Human/El-Aurian hybrid...though not much is known about El-Aurian physiology. They never seem to get sick and it appears Coren has that ability as well. Although he is age 41, in appearance, he still looks like a man in his mid-20's. Again, attributed to his El-Aurian heritage. I can't say for sure how long he'll live for - it's been heard El-Aurians can live for several generations. He keeps in good shape. As he's a doctor, he seems well aware of the necessity to remain healthy. I have nothing more."

Psychological Analysis:
"Coren is head-strong, intelligent and passionate about his work and medicine. He's a very good doctor that cares deeply for everyone he's ever treated. In fact, he forms some kind of bond...which makes it very hard on him when he loses someone. He's one who'll fight strongly for what he believes and may sometimes come off as brash and confrontational. His mind is strong and he has strong empathic abilities. He still refuses to talk about his time with his ex-wife...and seeing as he retired, I no longer have the chance to delve into that part of his life." Counselor Carlton Grenn SF Medical

Personal History Complement:
At the time Captain Podhigar was reassigned to another sector and ship, Coren had left SB 782 for some time. Upon passing through SB 782 on his way back to his homeworld Izar, he asked the USS Liberty's Yeoman Calin to marry him. Both are now living on Izar.
